What is an Energy Investment Deduction

As a company, you can take advantage of the Energy Investment Deduction scheme. This scheme means that you can deduct 45% of the investment costs of energy-saving business assets from your taxable profit, on top of your usual depreciation. Environmentally friendly investments also still reduce your energy bill. On average, this scheme gives you an 11% benefit.

How does it work?

You can apply for the Energy Investment Allowance via my.rvo.nl. You must be careful to submit the application on time. For an EIA you need confidence level 1. Attention! It may take a few days before you receive your login details. You can find the waiting times on rvo.nl. Within eight weeks you will receive the decision on your application. If your investment is successful, you will receive a statement showing the amount. The total notification amount of energy investments per company must be at least €2,500 and the maximum amount per year is €124 million. It is allowed to deduct 45% of the amount received from the taxable profit.

Who is entitled to this?

Companies, foundations and associations are eligible. The Energy Investment Deduction applies to lighting in or at existing business premises. You can apply for your LED spots or LED downlights, with a precise luminous flux of at least 110 Lm/W. The power factor of the LED lighting system must contain at least 0.9. The maximum investment amount you can prove for the EIA is €25 per 1,000 lumens of luminous flux generated by the luminaire. LED tubes with an external driver and with a specific luminous flux of 130Lm/W are also eligible for this. The maximum investment amount is €20 per LED tube.
